Approximately 30' tall, Middle Falls is located 1/2
mile from the parking area and is best seen from the
overlook on the River Trail (below).
River Trail offers views of all three waterfalls.
The trail is 1.5 miles round trip to the Burgess
Falls overlook. It is possible to extended the hike
by walking an additional 1/2 mile, 1 mile round
trip, to the bottom of Burgess Falls. This section
of the trail is fairly steep, and includes a steel
stair case.
There is also the 1 mile "Ridge Top Trail" which
starts near the Big Falls overlook and offers views
of the Falling Water River as it merges into
Center Hill Lake.
Burgess Falls State Natural Area was established
in 1973 and is the only state park in Putnam County.
Located 8 miles South of Cookeville and I-40.
