Reelfoot National Wildlife Refuge sits on the
northern end of Tennessee's Reelfoot Lake.
Established in 1941 to manage Reelfoot Lake as a refuge for migratory birds.
Additional lands acquired in Southwestern Kentucky
expanded the refuge to its current 10,428 acres.
As many as 200 eagles and 500,000 waterfowl have
been known to use Reelfoot lake and National
Wildlife Refuge as a winter retreat or migratory
stopping grounds.
