| The following table contains
harvest totals for whitetail deer hunting in Kentucky. Kentucky currently
uses Telecheck for hunters to report big game harvests, call
800.245.4263 to report a kill. Kentucky utilized
physical, mandatory, deer check-in starting in the 1976-77 deer season. Prior
to that a random mail survey was used to estimate harvest numbers. During the 1998 season
Kentucky switched to a combination of TeleCheck and physical checking,
with about 20% of harvest reported via SelfCheck that year. The 1999 deer season marked
the first year with Telecheck as the only option for reporting a big game
harvest. |
